It does toast well and the slots are large enough for bagels and even sliced rolls.
Since this is brand new, thus far the digital 'readout' works pretty good. Not sure if that will stop working over time especially since that area of the toaster does get hot.
What I Love Most:
Foolproof Toasting for All Breads: Coming from a traditional toaster where I’d babysit the bread and push it down twice for that perfect crisp, I was skeptical about the Mueller’s digital controls. But wow, does it deliver! Pop in frozen Ezekiel bread slices for two minutes, and you get golden, evenly toasted perfection every time—no hovering required. The six browning levels and LED countdown timer take the guesswork out, whether you’re toasting delicate sandwich bread or hearty artisan loaves.
Spacious and Versatile Slots: The four long, extra-wide slots (1.6 inches each) are a dream for variety. They effortlessly handle oversized bagels, thick Texas toast, frozen waffles, or longer slices of sourdough without jamming or trimming. I’ve mixed and matched bagels with English muffins in one go, making it a lifesaver for feeding a crowd or picky eaters.
Smart Features That Shine: Beyond the standard Cancel, Defrost, and Reheat buttons, the built-in warming rack is a standout for keeping rolls or croissants toasty. The Defrost setting nails frozen bread without burning, and Reheat warms leftovers without overcooking. The intuitive controls make it feel like a futuristic upgrade, yet it’s dead simple to use.
Sleek, Kitchen-Friendly Design: The polished stainless steel looks modern and stylish, fitting seamlessly into any kitchen aesthetic, from minimalist to cozy. It’s compact enough to not hog counter space but feels substantial and high-quality—perfect for displaying proudly.
Room for Improvement:
Handle with Care: The stainless steel, while gorgeous, is thin and prone to dents if you’re not gentle. If your kitchen is a high-traffic zone or you’ve got clumsy hands (no judgment!), be mindful when moving or cleaning it to keep it looking pristine.
Occasional Unevenness on Thin Slices: While it toasts most breads evenly, very thin slices can sometimes come out slightly inconsistent if you’re pushing the higher browning settings. Adjusting to a lower setting usually fixes this, but it’s worth noting for precision toast fans.
I can toast 2 long slices or 2 whole bagels, or 4 slices of toast, or a bagel and toast at the same time! It accommodates long and/or thick slices. I love this thing! The desired darkness of toast is only a plus.
It is a little on the large size, but that is expected. It fits nicely, depth wise, next to my Keurig one cup coffee maker. Thank you Mueller!
I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me a replacement for free. We noticed right off the bad that the replacement toaster was much less noisy than our last toaster, in toasting and when it pops up. Our last toaster had a hum and was very loud when it popped up the toast. I am wondering if it didn't have a rough ride to get to us. Either way, the company was very responsive and took care of us with a new toaster. I highly approve. This toaster meets every one of our needs. It fits the bagels we buy great, we can toast sliced croissants, and I can toast two hamburger buns at the same time, one in each slot, and I can toast my extra long sourdough bread slices. Having a kid in high school, our toaster is used almost every morning, and sometimes at night as well. I love the way it looks in our kitchen and how perfectly functional it is for our needs. I have seen other reviews that it does not have a bagel function, where only one side of the bread gets toasted, but that is not an issue for us. We like everything toasted on all sides.
This toaster was great while it lasted, which was 10 months... It died tonight. It worked this morning and this evening, we've to use it a 2nd time and it's dead. It's used probably 10 times a week, occasionally more. The coils get hot if you stand there and hold the handle down, but the screen is dead and the lock to hold the handle down doesn't work. I clean the crumb catcher every other week and make sure nothing's left in there. I think it's the electronics that killed it. We loved the toaster, the size was perfect to be able to toast 2 buns at once, and worked well with bagels, too. I just wished it worked longer than 10 months.
Love the simple & clean design, still works well after 4-mos of use. Hidden crumb tray at bottom, easy to clean. Very large opening is good for toasting a lot of different things, usually at setting 3 or 4 (out of 6) for me.
The Larger 4-slice has a pretty large footprint on the counter! Measure your space and make sure you have the room to leave it there all the time. If not, the smaller 2-slice version is the same width, but only 1/2 the depth and fits nicely as an alternative.
The smaller one does not throw off as much heat as the large one does (which is a significant amount - I would not put this one “under counter” for safety).
What’s Good
Big Slots: Fits thick bread, bagels, and long slices easily.
Easy Controls: Touch buttons and LED display make it simple to use.
Multiple Settings: Six browning levels so you can toast it just right.
Extra Features: Includes Cancel, Defrost, and Reheat options.
Easy to Clean: Removable crumb tray and cord storage keep things tidy.
What’s Not So Great
No Bagel Mode: It doesn’t have a setting just for bagels.
Button Labels Fade: The white ink on buttons can wear off over time.
No Minus Button: You have to keep pressing the “+” to go back to a lower setting.
Final Thoughts
For around $40, it’s a solid toaster that does the job well. It’s stylish, easy to use, and perfect for families. Just be aware of a few small quirks.
My only complaint is the buttons. The white ink dissolves away after about 6 months. I am the only person who cleans this and I only use GP spray or water on a sponge or paper towel. Once the buttons disappear, it got humorous to watch my kids try to use it. They would frustratingly mash the black plastic until lights turned on or off that achieved their desired result. We don't change settings too often, so we settled on one setting and try hard to not let it change.
Recently, I obtained a white marker and with the aid of a flashlight, reidentified the buttons. Not very artistic, but it still works! White markers are cheaper than a new toaster, so I will keep it until it dies.
